Cost of Mini Tummy Tuck (Mini Tuck)

Mini Tummy Tuck Cost

The cost for performing a Mini Tummy Tuck is approximately $7,000 to $9,500. This includes the surgeon fee, anaesthetist, anaesthetic, hospital, accommodation and theatre fees and follow up visits. Ask your surgeon which costs are included in their quote. The surgeon fees alone are around $3,000-5,500.

The above prices are a general guide only and vary based on whether you require liposuction, the incision technique used, whether internal stitches are required and the amount of skin and fat being removed. You may be able to claim some of the costs from private health insurance. Medicare does not cover costs for cosmetic procedures. If your droopy stomach and loose skin are as a result of childbirth or pregnancy Medicare may cover a small portion of the cost. Ask your surgeon for information about any rebates.

Mini Tummy Tuck Operation

Unlike the full tummy tuck, the surgeon does not cut skin around the belly button with a mini tuck. Since the umbilicus is left alone, the procedure does not tighten any skin above the naval.

This operation may remove previous scars such as cesarean, hysterectomy and appendectomy scarring. This depends on whether the scar is located within the area of skin being removed. The length of the incision will depend on how much skin is being removed, but is usually smaller than incisions required for standard abdominoplasty. With mini tuck surgery, the incision laterally follows the pubic region and does not extend toward the hips.

Also, with a mini tuck, there is less area to be exposed and requiring healing. The surgeon only exposes muscles from the incision site up to the navel (not all the way up to the ribs). After the excess fat and skin are cut away or liposuctioned, the skin is pulled down and sutured. Mini tuck surgery takes about 1-2 hours and is often done in combination with abdominal liposuction.

Mini Tummy Tuck Recovery

The operation can be done as an outpatient procedure under local anaesthetic. This means you can be released from hospital within a few hours. The drainage tube is removed before you go home. Recovering from a mini tuck takes much less time than standard abdominoplasty recovery. You will still experience pain, which can be treated with medication. You will need to avoid strenuous activities for two to three weeks. However, most people return to work within a week after mini tuck surgery.

Mini Tummy Tuck Risks

The risks associated with a mini tuck include infection, blood clots, bleeding, accumulation of fluid, loss of sensation, prolonged swelling, wounds separating or not healing properly, nerve damage, necrosis (dying tissue), seroma and of course visible scarring.
